Strong areas:

• It has one of the most well maintained and best running diesel engines I've seen in a W123 chassis, and shifts through the gears beautifully.

• The vacuum system has been well maintained, with the locks functioning quickly, the cruise control operative, the dash vents working properly, and the motor shutting off quickly.

• A one owner car of this vintage is extremely difficult to find, and means the car had consistent and regular maintenance from an affluent adult owner.

• This car was sold new in Naples, Florida, and has never spent a winter up north.  As a result, the lack of corrosion is remarkable, including the body, engine and undercarriage.

• This car gets remarkable gas mileage, well over 30 in the city and up near 40 on the highway.  That efficiency is rare in such a substantial car, with thick steel construction and doors that close with a solid and satisfying sound.

• New front tires have been installed, along with new motor mounts, and a recent air conditioning overhaul.  The AC is extremely cold and powerful.

Weak areas:

• The original paint is a strong point in itself (one can clearly see there is no accident damage or corrosion repair), but the finish on this car has faded somewhat under the Florida sun, leaving areas on the top surfaces cloudy and oxidized.

• The interior is very clean for its age, but there is some mild fading here and there and very light deflation of the padding on the rear seats.
